"The most important Roman mines in Portugal were unquestionably the Três Minas [Mines] (Vila Pouca de Aguiar)" (Jorge Alarcão 1988: 123). At Tresminas Roman Mining Compound, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Roman open pit, interpretive display panels and marked pedestrian trails. Tour guides are required for visits to the inside of the galleries. At the Tresminas Interpretation Centre and at the Vila Pouca de Aguiar Municipal Museum is material which originated within the archaeological excavations. These facilities provide access to additional knowledge regarding the Roman Empire and the importance of the Northeast Iberian Peninsula mining activity.
