Locomotive No. 1 was acquired in the beginning of 1926 and was in use until 1987. Its first trip to the Martingança station was conducted in July 1926, along the wide gauge railway which connected E.C.L to the national Western Line. All movements of the train composition was initially conducted by the CP, the Portuguese Railways. This was to manoeuvre the wagons inside the manufacturing facility, and between this location and Martingança. With the start of Oven II in 1928 and an increased cement production traffic increased, and the duplication of the system was decided. Locomotive No. 1 was manufactured in Tegel, Germany by A. Borsig GmbH in 1926. It was powered by steam and had a maximum speed of 30 km/h. It is one of the extremely rare preserved examples in Europe.
