GEOLOGICAL / MINING INTEREST
History Patrimony:
The Estremoz Anticline is located in the district of Evora. The use and exploitation of marble from Estremoz dates from Roman times. To prove this, we highlight the existing remains of mining activity in the area of Vila Viçosa, as the bases and capitals of the columns of the Temple of Diana in Evora. The existing quarries dating from the early 20th Century. These are mostly open, with the dismantling performed at levels 50 to 10 feet tall.
