The Quartz Museum aims to encourage interest in the geological heritage as an important part of the natural heritage by promoting their protection, preservation and enhancement. Aims to informabout the regional geology and quartz in geological and mineralogical context and to establish itself as a surplus pedagogical-didactic for the various levels of schooling. The project which includes the Quartz Museum aimed an upgrading of the Monte de Santa Luzia, which for some years has been the target of exploitation of this mineral. The use of this resource left a crater, as a window opened into the earth's crust that is worth watching. At the request of the City Hall of Viseu, the National Museum of Natural History, University of Lisbon, hasconceived  a recovery project, involving its acceptance as a geomonument.
