Penedo furado of monte da Meadela Natural Monument, Viana do Castelo
The geosite is located on the slope of the Serra de Santa Luzia, in the parish of Meadela (13 ha). It is made up of a granite boulder, in a parallelepiped form, emptied inside, with an opening for S/SO, compatible with a tafoné weathering process (Carvalhido, 2012, 2014a). In addition to being a notable example of this weathering process, the rock has a high geocultural interest for the inhabitants of the parish of Meadela, with an important belonging value. There are reports of several inhabitants who recognize that outcrop as the place where they were conceived. In the same massif there are forms of pseudo-stratification and polygonal fracturing, as well as arched fractures and panholes, without an exiting channel.The geosite occurs over a patch of the surface of Além do Rio and constitutes a privileged position to observe the Local Natural Monument of Ínsuas do Lima, as well as the main flattening surfaces that occur south of Lima.

The Casa dos Nichos (House of the Niches) is a 15th century building recently restored to receive an exhibition area here you can see part of the county's archaeological estate, highlighting the Prehistory, Iron Age and Romanization period. ith a strong pedagogical vocation, the visitor has available multimedia means to access information about cultural heritage such as the city of Santa Luzia, Santa Maria de Geraz de Limas’s medieval graves of Carreço’s rock engravings.

The Citânia de Santa Luzia, locally knon as the "old ton", is one of the best knon castres of northern Portugal and undoubtedly one of the most important for the study of Protohistory and Romanization of the Alto Minho.
