We then try to make an effort to remember that the distances between these are enormous and that the sensation is only an illusion; the Universe is essentially comprised of emptiness. - But what is the real dimension of this emptiness? The numbers involved are so big that they lose all meaning. - What does it mean to say that Earth is 150 million kilometres from the Sun? -Or that the Moon is 384 thousand kilometres from the Earth? -Or that the closest star to us, after the sun, is 4 light-years away? -Or that...We can easily accept and repeat these numbers, but in reality we are not capable of truly comprehending them.
